Dalben Tower Slide

One of the most popular pieces of fixed play equipment at the playground is our Dalben Tower Slide. Installed in 2002, with £76K of Authority SRB Funding, it has suffered from too much damp weather over the years and the timber decking and beams on every level have “wet rot”.

As a result, we haven’t been able to use the slide since October.

Having considered initial costs, long-term maintenance costs and life expectancy of replacement decking and beams, we have decided to replace with steel beams and composite plastic decking.

The bad news is that the work will cost nearly £11,000.

The good news is that with the support of our local Councillors we have been awarded £7,000 from the Ward Community Fund towards the costs. This will mean we won’t spend a year fund-raising for the work and that the Slide will be repaired and up and running this spring, better than ever.
