What we do
The opportunity for children to access space and experience a sense of freedom is central to the philosophy of open access play provision.

Why

Our core values
Child Centered Provision
Mowmacre Playground will endeavour to provide a stimulating, safe environment where the young person is always at the centre of services delivered.
Empowering Young People
So that where possible they can make the decisions with as few restrictions as possible.
Not Controlled By Adults
Staff are there as facilitators, sharing experiences with the young people not controlling or restricting them.
Safe Environment
Staff are there to ensure that the centre and all activities meet with Health and Safety criteria. The staff are responsible for providing a socially and emotionally safe environment, ensuring that no young person is the victim of oppressive behaviour.
Stimulation & Challenge
The playground will provide opportunities, which both stimulate and allow young people to take risks. Thus enabling young people to develop confidence and self-esteem.
Respect
Staff will treat young people with respect. Sharing experiences and not treating them as inferior.
Care
An understanding of the young people and their circumstances is fundamental. While at the playground the young people’s best interests will be considered first by staff in all matters.
Equal Opportunities
Equal Opportunities implications are considered for all service delivery, recruitment and at the planning stage of all new projects. The Associations Equal Opportunities “Aims & Objectives” and “Policy” are reviewed regularly.
Extending Experience
Give young people opportunities to explore and understand the wider world. Staff encourage this by sharing experiences with young people and acting on knowledge gained.
Encourage Cooperation
So that young people can learn from each other. Work within the law. By making sure that the staff and committee are aware of their responsibilities e.g. The Children’s Act, U.N Convention On Rights Of The Child.
Accessible
The child’s right to learn through the medium of play is vital. We therefore provide activities, which meet not only their physical but also social and emotional needs.
Policies
We have numerous policies and procedures in place to ensure everything runs safely, smoothly and efficiently.
Please Note: We only update our policies on this page if there are any changes made when reviewed.
